It seems that this is a page from a family Bible.

  1. I live on Hendershot Rd, Parma, MI. This was part of the land owned by Peter VanValin, 1840-1922, son of Abraham VerValen (VanValin)1792-1845, son of Gideon Ver Valin 1742-1820, etc. It seems to tie to your line. I have a map of the land Peter owned and his grave is located about 2 miles from here. If you go on FindAGrave.com you will see the cemetery – Chapel Cem, Sandsone,,Jackson Cnty, Mi. If you would like to correspond with me, I have more information to share. Barbara Erbele

    • Thanks for commenting, Barbara! Your name sounds familiar, like perhaps we exchanged some emails about 10 or 15 years ago. (It has been about that long since I have been devoting significant time to my genealogy).

But yes, the Gideon you mention is a brother of my direct ancestor Jeremiah. In theory, at least, I do try to track all of these Van Valin lines. This link shows what info I personally have on Peter and his family: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=frotis&id=I6509

      • Thanks so much on contacting me. I have given the new owner all the information on the VanValin’s as they are Dutch as well. They have the abstract and are interested in the history of the land. A book published, Cracker Hill Crumbs (history of Parma) shows a picture of the VanValins and their home. Thanks again Barbara
